A Year of Enrgi Fitness

Over the past year, I have grown a love for group fitness classes and owe it all to Enrgi Fitness. Enrgi is a 4-studio gym in River North offering a ton of different class styles from HIIT to strength and restorative. While it has been a struggle not attending class 5-7 times a week in order to make time for half marathon training, it didn’t start out that way.

Back in May 2016, I was persuaded to sign up for a month trial because it was unlimited and meant more hang time with my best friend (thank you, Jacqueline!). The first day I walked in, I was 20 minutes early and already sweating because I was so nervous to not know anyone there or look like an idiot. However, after that first 60 minute Calorie class with Theresa, I knew that I was hooked. I tried just about every class Enrgi had to offer within that first month and quickly signed up for a second, putting my payments on auto because there was no turning back.

Although I switch up my schedule from time to time, I have some favorite classes and you’ll usually find me there during those times. As you’ll notice, I’m a post-work kind of girl but that doesn’t mean I am against switching things up to go in the morning if I have an after-work commitment!


Monday: SWAT @ 6:15pm – circuit training incorporating cardio and strength, this is my favorite way to start the week

Tuesday: Calorie @ 6:10pm – get your sweat on with this amazing cardio burn

Wednesday: Warrior @ 5:30pm – I used to be scared of this, partially due to the name but now it’s one of my favorites and a must-try

Thursday: Target 6 @ 6:05pm & Release + Restore @ 6:35pm – hitting the 6 main areas of your body (arms, back, chest, butt, legs, & thighs) then taking it down a few notches with foam rolling and stretch bands

Friday: Shredded @ 5:30pm – by the end of the week, I’m usually pretty tired from the intense cardio classes so I like to do a low-impact weight class

Saturday: Yoga Flow @ 10:20am & Calorie @ 11:25am – yoga is a must on the weekends and sometimes when I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll hit up Calorie afterwards

Sunday: Yoga Recover @ 10am – this class is perfect to end the week because it is so relaxing and gives me an hour to stretch it all out. It also prepares me for another week of intense training


I’ve come quite a long way since first joining Enrgi – opting for 18 pound weights instead of 5, attending Warrior as often as possible, and learning it’s okay to switch up my routine to try new things such as the gravity series (essentially hanging around in hammocks).
