As I took off on my Saturday long run this morning, I was feeling a bit lethargic, my shins didn’t feel the greatest, and the wind was slowing down my pace. Needless to say, I wasn’t looking forward to completing those 9 miles.
Around mile 3, I noticed a sign for CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association) and didn’t think much about it until shortly after, 2 bikers with whistles were coming towards me with several people sprinting behind them. After noticing their bibs, it clicked that I just landed myself in the middle of the Lakefront 10 Miler & 5K. I immediately got the chills and couldn’t stop smiling at each of the runners going by (sorry if that was you, I was just cheering you on!). It took that moment of watching each person sprint their hearts out to wash away the negative thoughts and remind me why I run – the strength I feel after accomplishing a goal, the happy tears when I finally cross a finish line, that’s what keeps me going. And I am so honored to be sharing that feeling with all of you and cannot describe the joy it brings me to inspire you the way those racers inspired me.
Thank you for your continued support and I can’t wait to keep this blog running!
xo, Happy Saturday
