This past weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting a charity class at CrossTown Fitness in Lakeview! With three locations across the Chicagoland area (West Loop, Lakeview – obv, and their newest location – Roscoe Village), CTF provides everything one could need from strength training to cardio to recovery. And this charity class was no exception. Trainer (and friend from high school!) Stephanie Rountree led us through 5 stations, hitting all of the major muscle groups + some. We left there extremely sweaty, to say the least.
|Station 1||Station 2||Station 3||Station 4||Station 5|
|Sprints on treadmill||Med ball lunge with rotation slams||Broad jumps with resistance band||Skaters||Sprints on rower|
|Shoulder presses||Bodysaw on sliders||Pushup on riser, swing to tricep dip||Med ball hamstring curls||Deadlift to clean to squat with kettle bell|
At each station, we spent 45 seconds on each exercise, 4 times through (so a total of 8, 45 second rounds – I hope that makes sense because I’m having the hardest time putting that into words *face palm*).
The best part, we got in an amazing sweat and raised money for an even better charity! A total of $330 was raised for Team Salute! That money will go directly to injured military service members, veterans and their families to help ensure a successful financial, physical and emotional transition to civilian life and support during deployment.
Salute, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Will and Mary Beth Beiersdorf. Shortly after 9/11, Will (a Naval Reservist), was called to active duty and deployed to Guantanamo Bay for 13 months. While Will was serving in Cuba, Mary Beth and her children coped with the fear of the unknown as well as the financial and emotional strain caused by Will’s deployment – family, friends and their extended community stepped in to help. Upon Will’s return, both he and Mary Beth felt the need to give back by helping others who were experiencing similar hardships, thus Salute, Inc. was born.
Didn’t get a chance to sweat it out but want to make a contribution? Please visit my Chicago Marathon Fundraising page as I will be running in honor of the men & women serving our country on October 7. Any amount can make a huge impact and I greatly appreciate anything you are willing to give!
