You heard that right, I’m officially a part of #TeamaSweatLife and I could not be more excited!
I first heard about aSweatLife during the summer of 2016 when I joined Enrgi Fitness. Maggie Umberger quickly became one of my favorite trainers – kicking my butt in calorie & SWAT then helping me to stretch it out and re-focus in yoga. So I did what any normal 20-something would do, Instagram creeped the f outta her (sorry I’m not sorry, Maggie) where I quickly learned that not only did she work at the creative company my then-clients used but that she was also a part of this awesome movement, aSweatLife.
Continuing down the deep, dark hole of Instagram creeping, I realized it was much more than a movement and actually a way of life. Born from exhaustion of boring workouts and trying different gyms across Chicago, the first SweatWorking event was held in March of 2014 and aimed to satisfy their core belief that everything is better with friends. I craved to be a part of it (FOMO at it’s finest) and got my first chance during #SweatWorkingWeek in January of 2017. After taking a class with SWEAT’s founder Paul Michael Rahn and attending the #SweatWorkingWeek After Party at Barry’s Chicago, I was hooked – the opportunity to do something I loved and making new friends while doing it was a dream come true.
The aSweatLife community has been there for me in more ways than they even know – when I was feeling lost at work, they provided a way to find my path.
When I went through a terrible break-up and moving home to my parents’, they provided strength.
When I just wanted to hang out with friends, they provided the sweatiest class I’ve ever been to and some drinks to make it all worth it.
I hope to bring that same guidance, strength, and friendship to each of you over the next year and fingers crossed, meet & sweat with all of you at some #SweatWorking events!
